Art Therapy Lab

Where art meets mental health.

Art Therapy Lab is an international platform centered on interdisciplinary collaboration and community-based practice at the intersection of art therapy and related fields.

Our Mission

We are an evolving space for international community, collaboration, and practice-based research. Founded and directed by art therapist and educator Julia Volonts, ATL offers virtual and site specific healing arts workshops for those interested in experiencing art as therapy, as well as professional development opportunities for practitioners through mentorship and the yearly Art Therapy Lab International Residency.

Our work is community-centered, emphasizing relational, socially responsible community engagement through art, with a mission is to:

  • Connect people globally through shared experience of creating

  • Expand access to healing arts through partnerships + collaboration

  • Support future practitioners in art therapy, arts in health, and related fields

Current Programs

A new mentorship program designed for art therapists, artists, and arts-in-health practitioners who are ready to turn ideas into collaborative projects and connect with a global community. The program is five sessions over Zoom.

    Launching 2026.

Reflection & Inquiry

Art Therapy Lab is developing its research identity towards a space of dialogue and collaboration between art therapy and the broader arts in health movement, exploring how both fields can work together to support ethical and socially responsible community care.

As we move forward, we hope to connect more deeply with our existing community and continue building an international network curious about how art heals and how we can grow together. We invite you to join our community of creatives from over 45 countries by signing up for our newsletter.
